The Blevins Class of 2023 held their graduation ceremony Friday (May 12). There were nineteen graduates, six of them graduating with honors. The ceremony started with the processional, followed by the pledge of allegiance and the invocation.
Alyssa Bonner gave the salutatory address, saying how the graduates should be proud of being there and that the time has passed so quickly. She mentioned the advice given by Mr. Sweat to make sure they are the best at whatever they do and be passionate about what they do. If you can’t figure out what your purpose is, figure out your passion and your purpose will become clear.
Nathan Lovette, the valedictorian encouraged the graduates to never forget about the present and to embrace every experience.
A song played during the presentation of carnations had the lyrics, “We have come so far “
Almost half the class won scholarships.for a total combined amount of over $210,000. They included an award from the Lions, from SAU, Journeyman training, and the biggest award, from the Art Institute for $80,000 going to Lillian Allen. Mr. Justin Mishler, the class sponsor, announced the scholarships and the amounts each student had won.
The diplomas were presented and the class was presented to the audience. The graduation ended with a benediction and recessional. The class filed out and gathered on the stairs before for a celebratory throwing of the caps in the air.
